Lowell Street

Originally a gambrel cape style home, this home was expanded both upward and to the right to accommodate the shifting needs of the homeowners and their children. During this project, the whole house envelope was improved and the building systems replaced.

On the first floor, a mudroom was added, and the kitchen expanded to include a breakfast and crafting nook and the wall between the kitchen and dining room opened up.

On the second floor, we added a new primary suite and office area, taking advantage of the attic space above. The children’s bedrooms were designed as two rooms with a large cased opening between them. At the time of project completion the space had been set up as a bedroom adjoining a play/craft room. As the children get older and start to want more privacy, this opening can be fitted out first with a door and eventually perhaps with a wall infill.
